God’s Chicken
Today I learned that God’s chicken spot was under attack! Yes our beloved Chik-Fil-A has been put up against Popeyes in a battle of the chicken sandwiches. You may think that this is mere hearsay, but this is really a thing lol. Social media is going crazy over this. When I tell you people have never been so serious about chicken sandwiches! Folks are enduring long lines in the drive thru, 30 minute waits, and all.
Ok I have to admit. I was one of the folks pressed to try it – that was until I saw the demand and God had other plans. Here is my experience:
My friend Morgan and I made plans to go get this sandwich the next day during lunch. We talked it up some kinda good all day. The day finally comes and fate came in. I looked into my work bag and noticed that I left not only my money for the sandwich, but my wallet, matter fact my whole purse. I immediately called Morgan to ask her if she had me on the chicken sandwich. Her being the great friend that she is – told me 'no' a bunch of times and explained how she didn’t have the money for me (something about a budget and having financial goals blah) lol. Eventually I got her to consider it! Yea, just a consideration (yall will meet Morgan soon). Next we plotted our route to get the chicken sandwich. We were near about 3 Popeyes spots so we just knew 1 of the 3 would not let us down. Moments go by in the day and then plans changed. I had to attend a meeting at work and couldn’t go out for lunch. Thus there was no Popeyes chicken in my near future. No big deal I would go after work.
So Morgan get off from work before me and calls to telling me about how she is at the Popeyes by my office! Then she proceeds to yell through the phone that there is a super long line and that this is unreal. So my work day ends and I keep Morgan’s warning in my head, but hey I am Christian and thus optimistic. Nah! God did not want me and 50-11 other people to have Popeyes ta-day! That line look like they were giving the chicken away. It was so long it was holding up traffic on a major road. I couldn’t believe it. Of course I called Morgan back to complain about it and after our screams back and forward she hit me with disturbing news. Now let me tell you about the betrayal I endured over this here chicken sandwich.
She said she saw my husband post about eating the sandwich on Facebook. Oh naw! Are you serious? I could not believe that he would hurt me that bad and get the sandwich without me. Never mind that my exact plans were to have my first bite with Morgan instead of him lol. Ironic right! I got home and leaned into him so hard. He laughed me out and confirmed what social media was saying: the sandwich was like that! However, God don’t like ugly - my husband showed me a pic of his sandwich and they got him on the bread lol. He had some off brand type bread – spare bread lol. But he still liked it.
Morgan and I still plan to get a taste of the sandwich when the hype dies down. Until then I am enjoying all of the funny posts and videos about it.
Did any yall get a taste of this new chicken sandwich? Do you feel like Chick-Fil-A is in big trouble?
